Privacy Policy

Effective October 12, 2026

Versely is a Bible reader for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch made by 7Twenty8 Studio (“we”, “us”), based in Dallas, Texas. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • You can use Versely without an account. In guest mode everything stays on your device and the app works fully offline.
  • No ads, no tracking, no selling data. Versely contains no advertising or analytics SDKs, and we never sell your information or use it to track you across other apps or websites.
  • If you create an account, we store what's needed to sync your notes, highlights, prayers and plans between your devices, and nothing more.
  • You can delete your account and its data at any time from inside the app.

Information we collect

We only collect the following, and only to make the app work. None of it is used for tracking or advertising.

  • Account information.Your email address, and a display name if you add one, when you create an account with email or Sign in with Apple. If you choose Apple's “Hide My Email”, we only receive a private relay address. Each account has an internal user ID.
  • Content you create, when you're signed in: highlights, collections, bookmarks, notes, prayers and prayer journal entries, sermon notes, reading plans and progress, attachment captions, and posts in church groups. Prayers and journal entries can reveal religious beliefs, so we treat all of this as sensitive and use it only to store and sync it for you.
  • Purchases. If you subscribe to Versely Premium, we record the subscription on your account so Premium works on all your devices. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card details.
  • Feedback. Messages you send with Send Feedback, the reply email you give us, and your app version, iOS version and device model so we can help.
  • Diagnostics. Crash reports, which are not linked to your account, and error reports that help us fix problems.
  • Notification tokens. If you allow notifications for a church group, we store your device's push token so announcements can reach you.

What stays on your device or in your iCloud

  • In guest mode, everything you create stays on your device.
  • Photos, voice recordings, PDFs and Apple Pencil pages you attach to prayers or sermon notes are stored in your own private iCloud, which we cannot read. Photos are downscaled and their location data is removed before saving.
  • Bible text, audio, study resources and downloads come to the app without sending anything about you. Reading, searching and listening happen on your device.
  • Reminders you set for prayer or reading are scheduled on your device.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your location, contacts, health or fitness data, financial information, browsing or search history, advertising identifiers, or analytics about how you use the app.

How we use information

  • To create and secure your account and sync your content between devices.
  • To provide Premium features you've subscribed to.
  • To run church groups and the community features you choose to use.
  • To answer your feedback and support requests.
  • To find and fix crashes and errors.
  • To keep the community safe, including handling reports.

We don't use your information for advertising, profiling or tracking.

Study assistant (AI)

Versely may offer an optional study assistant that explains passages, summarizes chapters or suggests discussion questions. When you ask it something, the app sends the passage reference, its Bible text and the kind of help you asked for to our server, along with your sign-in so we can apply daily limits. Our server then asks an AI model provided by Anthropic to write study notes, sending it only the passage reference and the kind of help requested. Your notes, prayers and journal entries are never sent.

Answers are about the passage, not about you, so they're saved and reused for anyone who asks the same thing. AI answers are always labelled as AI-generated and shown separately from Scripture.

Church groups and community

What you post in a church group, such as prayer requests, discussion replies and your display name, is visible to the members of that group. Group leaders can remove posts. If you post on a public prayer wall or share reflections, that content is visible to other Versely users; you can choose to post anonymously where offered.

You can delete your own posts, report or block other people, and leave a group at any time. Reported content is reviewed so we can remove anything that breaks the community guidelines.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run Versely. They process data only on our behalf and only to provide their service:

  • Supabase: hosts our database and sign-in, which store your account and synced content.
  • Apple: Sign in with Apple, iCloud storage for your attachments, App Store subscriptions and push notifications.
  • Sentry: crash and error reporting.
  • Anthropic: the AI model behind the study assistant, when it's available. It receives passage references only.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account and synced content for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account in the app(Account › Delete Account). This permanently removes your account and the content synced to it from our servers. If you use Sign in with Apple, we also revoke Versely's access to your Apple ID.

Attachments in your iCloud are yours: remove them in your iPhone's iCloud settings. Content in guest mode is removed when you delete the app. Crash reports are kept only as long as needed to fix problems.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS. On our servers, each account's data is protected so only that account can read it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and collect as little as we can.

Children

Versely is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Guest mode, which collects nothing, can be used by anyone. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your choices and rights

  • Use guest mode to keep everything on your device.
  • View and edit your content in the app at any time.
  • Turn notifications off in the app or in iOS Settings.
  • Delete your account and data in the app, or by emailing us.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data or ask a privacy question by emailing 7twenty8studio@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we'll honor them.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
